The East Stroudsburg University/Community
Orchestra will perform Camille Saint-Saëns musical suite, Carnival of the
Animals, 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in Cecilia S. Cohen Recital Hall of the
University’s Fine & Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets,
East Stroudsburg.
Otis French, Ph.D., associate professor of
music, will conduct the orchestra in Saint-Saëns’ light-hearted classic, which
features fourteen sections, each representing a different animal or animals.
Broadway performer Pearce Wegener will read poet Ogden Nash’s lively narration
to the suite.
Betsy Buzzelli-Clarke, Ed.D., associate
professor of music, and Jenny Collins, M.M., adjunct professor of music, are
featured pianists for the concert.
Prior to the performance, ESU’s Department of
Theatre will conduct an interactive workshop for children on how to create
animal characters and puppets at 2 p.m. in the recital hall.
The concert and workshop, sponsored by the Buck
Hill Skytop Music Festival and ESU’s Department of Music, is free and open to
the public.
